northwestern corner. The city is located about 85 km south of the coast of the Atlantic. This is a very old city that existed before Roman times, and today the population measured at almost 100 000 (2010).
The Roman wall was built on the 200-century and is still intact. This is the only Roman city walls in the world that can still be seen in its entirety, and in 2000 it was listed on the UNESCO list of world heritage. Other landmarks that are worth noting is the cathedral which was begun in 1129 and the city’s slaughterhouse, which is Spain’s largest.
