Logroño is the capital of the Spanish region of La Rioja, which is to be found in its central portion in the north. The city is situated on the river Ebro, and that’s about 140 km to the French border in the northeast. In 2010, there were approx. 150 000 inhabitants here.
This is a popular wine region, where the renowned Rioja wine is produced. Bodegas Olarra is a winery where you can book a tour and taste the wine produced here. In late September, the Wine Harvest Festival, a festival to celebrate the harvest of grapes. In Logroño, there are many historic buildings, including a bridge built over the Ebro in 1138.
Logroño Airport is located approx. 10 km east of the city.
